The Lecrin Valley in Andalucia is not the Spain of air-conditioned hotels and English-speaking waiters with outstretched palms, but a traditional Spanish farming community where foreigners are seen as honoured guests. If you want to discover Spanish folk culture in action, spend your next B&B, Apartment or self catering villa holiday in one of the lovely White Washed villages in the beautiful and picturesque Lecrin Valley in Andalucia in Southern Spain.
Our 200 year old stone built home is situated in the centre of the picturesque village of Albunuelas at the head of The Lecrin Valley and makes the perfect place for a quiet, relaxing holiday.
This sub tropical valley is reputed to have been the last stronghold of the Moors who gave it the charming name which translates as "The Valley of Happiness." In their time here they were responsible for terracing the mountain sides to enable them to plant the numerous orange and almond orchards which still flourish today providing the local people with their living. To ensure that these trees were kept in tip top condition they also installed the irragation system known as asquis which are still in use today. Apart from the almonds and oranges you will also see large crops of lemons, grapes, avocado's, pomegranetes and cherries in this very fertile valley
Inside our pretty whitewashed home you will find one en-suite twin bedded room, one en-suite family room with a double and a single bed plus a cot if required and our three roomed roof top apartment. Each room has electric heaters for the occasional cold night, fans which get worked hard for 9 months of the year, bedside lights and tea and coffee making facilities. We also have a childs bed and baby's cot that we can put in the Orange room if required for a small extra charge. Mary Ann is more than happy to baby sit for parents who wish to go out in the evenings. Both rooms have en-suite shower rooms with unlimited hot water at all times. The rooms are serviced daily, linen is changed twice a week and there are plenty of large fluffy towels. We can also supply beach towels on request.
On the ground floor is the lounge with satelite t/v, dvd player, books and board games and a wood burning stove for the cooler evenings. The dining room has room for 6 people to dine in comfort and we have an extensive menu of both local and International dishes for our guests who wish to dine in the evenings together with a good wine list. Opening of the lounge is a shady internal courtyard with table and chairs. This is the perfect place to relax in the heat of the day. We also have a large roof terrace with many sun loungers, sun shades and table and chairs. Here you will also find our roof top pool and BBQ. All facilities are for the exclusive use of our guests and the mountain views are spectacular. We even have a set of binoculars for your added enjoyment.
Our roof top apartment is situated on the second floor with direct access to the roof terrace. The bedroom
is fitted with twin beds, wardrobe and chest of drawers and is serviced daily. All linen and towels are supplied
by us. The kitchenett is fully equiped with 3 ring gas cooker, microwave and coffee machine.
Sierra Nevada and National Park
Close by in Andalucia you will find the Sierra Nevada Mountains and National Park with the most Southerly ski resort in Europe just 50 minutes drive from your holiday home in the Lecrin Valley.

Airport Transfers
We think that to get the best from the area you need a hire car but for those of you who do not want the bother we can offer an airport pickup service. From Granada Airport the cost is 30 euro's each way and from either Malaga or Almeria the charge is 60 euro's
There is a local bus service from Albunuelas to Durcal and Granada which is run by Alsina Graells from Granada. There are 3 buses each weekday to and from the village
